Sector

Renewable energy

Lesotho has hydro, solar and wind resources, and the Government has stated an aim to export renewable power to the wider SADC region. The 'Muela hydropower station supplies over half of domestic electricity demand, according to LNDC, and the Government launched Phase II of the Ramarothole solar plant in Mafeteng in July 2026, adding 50 MW to the existing 30 MW together with an 8 MW battery storage system.
